a place for my head

Here's my blog, which I hope to regularly provide with updates about my projects, and perhaps my life? :3

9/6/25 - Haunted Requiem

Hello flakefall fans! This is probably the last site update before I start work, so buckle in.

Firstly, Haunted Requiem is out. Editing was like dragging my feet through broken glass – I like to think I’ve improved vastly since I wrote this. It’s certainly not my shiniest work, but I’d feel wrong not posting it anyway – otherwise I’d just end up posting nothing at all. I promise, though, that I’m getting better.

Secondly, a new article – Regarding: the ladder – is out. Feel free to go check that out!

As for poems, I have been steadily posting those on my Bluesky, rather than constantly updating here. At the end of each month I’ll do my best to put together a collection of my favourites from each month and post it on this site – but again, Bluesky will have a more consistent stream of them!

As for future projects, I do have a story or two up my sleeve, but those are far off in the future. For the near future, poetry and shorter stories are far more likely! Nevertheless, my lovely viewers, enjoy your stay!

I’ll be seeing you around (somewhere, somewhere dark),
- Kim

27/5/25 - poem collection of may

Hello flakefall fans! It’s been a while, but I assure you all I am still here! I start my job in just about two weeks – and I’m a bit nervous, albeit excited. It’ll bring in a lot of money for me for certain.

As for my writing, I’ve only really been doing small poems this past week. I’ve compiled them all, alongside other poems I’ve done this month, in the May Megacollection. Notably, I’ve submitted a few poems (not shown here) to a small literary magazine. It doesn’t pay, but it’s free submissions, so any amount of exposure or learning experience would be a great step in the right direction.

Also, I have a short story titled Bobby’s In The Basement (~1k words), so feel free to take a read of that too!

I hope you have all been well. :3

See you before my job,
- Kim

19/5/25 - a meaty monday!

For some unknown reason, today I have felt a very strong urge to write about meat and other gross related things. In the writing section, you may now find the Random Meat Anthology, which includes multiple pieces of writing. These are all some mindfuck brainspill passages that I wrote in a state that can only be described with “existential confusion and body awareness.”

So please, do feel free to take the few minutes to read. Perhaps you shall be squicked out, and perhaps you will enjoy the fleshy imagery. Muscle on!!!

Your body can only be as strong as your will,
- Kim

17/5/25 - Ununemployment

My dear readers (if literally anybody is reading this): I got a job!!! Honestly I was worried about quitting the last one, it was consistent but I couldn’t bring myself to stay there for moral reasons. But it paid off! Incredible full-time job at a new company, amazing pay for someone my age who hasn’t gone to post secondary school, and it starts sometime in early June!!!

That’s the life update – sadly, projects will be affected by this :(. For the near future, before I start working, I have a few goals for this site. First, I want to make sure Haunted Requiem gets edited and posted. Secondly, I hope to end up doing that game or program for the site like I was intending on doing – even if it’s just a proof of concept. Third, I should be posting a variety of poetry and articles, and that shouldn’t stop once I get a job.

This job won’t COMPLETELY stop my hobbies, just slow them down :) it took a lot of my energy to work part-time at a braindead job, so god knows how much of my energy a full time job with harder responsibilities will drain. Alas, we shall see!! The future is bright my friends.

You’ll hear from me soon, promise!
- Kim

12/5/25 - Baromh's release!

Shorter blog post for today – Baromh is out! Feel free to give it a read in the writing section, if you so wish!

In other news, I’m working on some other site updates that will hopefully come out in the next few days: namely, I’m going to try to get a chatbox or something of the sort in here!!

Through the stars in the night sky,
- Kim

7/5/25 - third time's a charm (blogpost)

Hello all! It’s been a little bit since I’ve updated this site, but I’ve got a nice fresh batch of stuff for you all. For one, plans of a new short story are outlined in the writing section: Baromh! A much shorter story than Haunted Requiem is going to be, but! starting out short paves the road for longer stories. Alongside that, there’s a new short poem I wrote, “Eighteen”, as well as a new article, “Regarding: the ghosts of the living”. I hope you can find enjoyment in these!

As for my personal life, it’s going *alright*. Some things are happening that have turned my general mental state (as well as stomach) into a churning ocean, but as many people would say: “fuck it we ball.” Still unemployed but actively looking, and although I’ve felt pretty unproductive these past few days, the motivation has returned and I shall be picking away at my projects!

Speaking of my projects, here’s a little ‘roadmap’ of what I intend to have done soon. As of writing this, “Regarding: the ghosts of the living” isn’t actually done yet, so that’s first on the list. After that is finishing up the draft of Baromh, and then either editing that or Haunted Requiem to get one of them out by (hopefully) the end of the week! (I also have another story idea in the works, but I’d like to get one of these finished first...) Aside from that, I want to make a little game or program for this website to finally get the “lil’ programs” section open, and at that point I might as well do a more substantial site update – hopefully more buttons or a chatroom!

Well, it’s been nice catching up here! I hope anybody happening to read this is enjoying the writing so far, and I shall talk soon :)

See you next [unspecified time frame],
- Kim

1/5/25 - The Beginning of May

Hey all! Time for another blog post – it’s more like a public journal entry, though.

It’s May, and spring is in full spring! Weather’s getting warmer, and although I much prefer the chillier throes of autumn and winter, the beginning of spring is still much more bearable than the depths of summer. Very good time for ice cream and iced teas – and I should definitely get around to baking lemon cookies again soon (my favourite!)

Unemployment is nice, I get all the time I like to write, but I have to keep looking for a job soon. I just recently quit mine for workplace related reasons, and as much as change tends to hurt, I know this is overall the best for me. But hey, for now, just have to continue reaping the rewards of plentiful free time!

In terms of projects, I have a few things cooking up! Haunted Requiem is due for my editing soon, but in the meantime, I’m working on a (much) shorter story about greed and medical autonomy, as well as drafting an article about how everything in life tends to connect. I also hope to create a program / game or two for this site to keep you all entertained – as well as doing some general upgrades to the site.

Whilst inspiration and motivation are hard to find, I’m trying my best right now – and I won’t disappoint! This is the beginning of... flakefall.

Until next time,
- Kim Flake

29/4/25 - First Post

Hello dear readers! This is the first blog post on the site, and also my first time writing one. Mainly this serves as a "sample text" to make sure the blog page isn't completely empty when I put it up.

I said I'd be talking about projects and life here -- and perhaps life talk shall come later, but what about projects? Well, for the moment, I'm unemployed for a little bit and can focus on writing. This website is my priority for right now, but once it's up and running I will work on writing more, namely short poetry and stories. I also intend on making little code projects to host here just for fun!!

So, do keep in touch! Good things are coming, and I hope to share them with you as they get completed.

Take care, - Kim
